Devour the Podcast #6: Presenting “Classics From the Crypt vol.1”

If you were looking forward to finally hearing David review Paranormal Activity I’m sorry to say, that ain’t happening this week. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this week’s episode instead features the début of Classics From the Crypt, featuring the very first episode of the now defunct Cryptcast. Take a trip down memory lane as you hear where David struck out on his own (with help from Dez) into the podcasting world.  And while your listening, make sure to check out fellow horror bloggers: and

Coming Soon to Devour the Blog/Podcast

Greetings dear readers, it’s been a little while since I last posted an actual update here on the blog that wasn’t just a new episode of the podcast (which I hope you are all enjoying, I’m having a blast recording them) and I wanted to take a moment to discuss a few things.

First and foremost, I’d like to say thank you to everyone who has checked out/followed the blog, and to everyone who has downloaded/subscribed to the podcast.  I greatly appreciate the support and the blog/podcast wouldn’t be around if it wasn’t for you.

Speaking of the podcast, I’ve got a few things planned for future episodes, including interviews, guest hosts and other segments.  Episode 5 featured the first comic review on the show, and I’m giving consideration to adding a Comics Corner segment to the show as a regular feature.

Along with the regularly scheduled episodes of Devour the Podcast, I am still sitting on a little over twenty hours of material from my previous podcast, The Cryptcast. I plan on going through these old files and re-editing them into Best of  episodes (and cleaning up as much of the audio as I possibly can) and posting them here on the blog, which means if you are already subscribed to the Devour the Podcast feed through Itunes (Devourtheblog is where you can find the show in the Itunes store) the Best of episodes will pop up along with all the other episodes.

Now that I’ve finished shilling the podcast (which you should totally subscribe to and leave comments on Itunes for) I’ve got a few plans for the blog.  My creative and reviewing focus has predominantly been on podcasting, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t started feeling the itch to start writing again, and as the year bleeds on, I’ll be posting the occasional news bits, film reviews and general articles. I may even start posting some original fiction here, but I haven’t decided yet.

Well, that’s about all I’ve got to say for now, other than Thank You all once again for the support.  This weekend’s episode of Devour the Podcast will feature the second installment of the Paranormal Activity trilogy, and Orca: The Killer Whale, along with a few other surprises, if I get them worked out in time.  The next written review you will be seeing here on the blog will be part one of my retrospective on the 1990 Epic Comics Nightbreed series, culminating in a review (either written or possibly podcasted) of Clive Barker’s film Nightbreed. Hell, I may even throw in a review of the original novella Cabal if I have the time to read it.
